Snippets of the yard, bird baths and old windows...

Living in New England, it's always so nice to get out in the yard after a long, cold winter
(especially this past one!)

Here's one of our many "Chip's," gathering up some peanuts I left for him.

This is the side yard next to the gate that leads into the backyard.

We attached an old window over a flower box to give a focal point to the section of fence next to the gate. A birdbath on a rustic wire table sits among the spiderwort and (mostly) weeds. It gives the birds some much needed water to bathe in and drink from on these hot summer days.

This little cherub birdbath is the perfect size for the wrens, chickadees, and sparrows.

Through the garden gate, in the backyard, is a shed and our girls' old tree house. Again, an old window was added behind the flowerbox (which has been ravaged by squirrels, I'm afraid!). And once again there's another bird bath, this one on the ground so that the squirrels, chipmunks, and some of our nocturnal visitors have access to water on a daily basis.

I have about 10 bird baths scattered around the yard and they sometimes have to be filled more than once a day from all the use they get. If any of you live near a Christmas Tree Shop, they sell large "chip" bowls for bbq's and such. They're heavy duty plastic and, let me tell you, they make the BEST birdbaths! They're large but not so deep that the birds are afraid. They're the perfect size for robins and blue jays and cardinals to get in and splash around to their hearts' content! They come in a variety of colors and designs, and best of all... they only cost a dollar something!

I hope you all have a great summer!! I'm working on some new paintings and will hopefully share some soon!

Stay cool!
